Prof. Feng JIN is a Yangtze River Scholars Distinguished Professor and the head of Department of Hydraulic Engineering, Tsinghua University. He was born at Guizhou Province, China, in September, 1966. He awarded his bachelor and doctor degree in Tsinghua University in 1987 and 1992, respectively. Since 2000, he has moved his academic interests into the field of concrete technology although he has gone on working in the field of static and dynamic analysis for dams and other infrastructures. He published more than 300 technical papers. More than 100 among them were published in journals in English. 
Prof. JIN developed an innovative mass concrete technology, named Rock-Filled Concrete (RFC) in last 2 decades. More than 200 engineering projects employed this technology. 150 RFC dams were built in China. The height of RFC dam completed reaches 90m and an RFC gravity dam of 100m high started to construct. Some standards and codes for RFC technology in China have be issued, including “Technical Guidelines for Cemented Material Dams (SL678-2014)”，“Technical Guidelines for Rock-Filled Concrete Dams” and “Code for Rock-Filled Concrete Construction”. An ICOLD (International commission on large dams) bulletin “On Rock-Filled Concrete dam” by an expert group coordinated by him from ICOLD technical committee on Cemented Material Dams was issued in 2021.
In 2009, 2010 and 2013, Prof. JIN was awarded Second Class Prizes of The State Scientific and Technological Progress Award three times due to his achievements on RCC arch dams, RCC gravity dams and seismic evaluation of high concrete dams. He was also awarded “Zhang Guangdou Prize for Young Scientist” and “Talent Prize for Science and Technology, Ministry of Water Resources, CHINA”.
