Prof. Hu Yaan, is Chief Engineer of Nanjing Institute of Water Resources Science, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Transportation and National Energy Administration. He is also an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He is an expert in the field of inland waterway transportation engineering.
With a career dedicated to the research of navigational hydraulics and hydroengineering, Prof. Hu Yaan has led and completed over 100 significant projects. These include national key research and development programs, initiatives funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and various large-scale scientific and technological projects in water conservancy, hydropower, and water transportation engineering. His work is internationally recognized for its originality and significant impact. Prof. Hu Yaan's contributions have been crucial in addressing complex hydraulic technical challenges in major hydropower stations such as Jinping and Baihetan. His research achievements have earned him three second prizes in national scientific and technological progress, one second prize in national technological invention, and numerous first and special prizes at provincial and ministerial levels. He holds 56 invention patents and has been instrumental in authoring 16 industry standards. His accolades include the First National Innovation Prize, the 13th Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Prize, and the Third Outstanding Engineer Prize. Additionally, he is a recipient of the State Council Government Special Allowance, highlighting his remarkable contributions to engineering and his influential role in advancing the field of inland water transport engineering in China and internationally.
