Dr. Zhao Gensheng  is Senior Engineer from Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute (China) and Researcher of Delft University of Technology (the Netherlands). He completed his PhD project in Hydraulic Engineering and obtained PhD degree in Delft University of Technology in 2014. As Researcher in Flanders Hydraulics Research, Dr. Zhao worked on the projects on flood risk assessment and management in hydraulic engineering. Since 2017, Dr. Zhao has been appointed as Senior Engineering to lead the consulting projects related to plan and optimization of hydropower plants’ layouts, navigation structures (shiplocks and shiplifts) to hydropower plants and regulations of waterways.  Since 2019, Dr. Zhao has been working as the managing director of the Joint Research Center of Water Science and Engineering (State Level) to coordinate/ explore the international projects and collaborations in the field of water science and engineering in the world.

He actively acts as the reviewers for Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, Journal of Water Science and Engineering, Natural Hazards, ect. And he has published and/or co-published 5 books, including 1 proceeding book published by Springer Nature.
